MAY CONTAIN …… ALLERGENS?
"Inconsistent and often confusing labelling practices
continue to put consumers with food allergies at risk. Statements
such as “May contain” “Made on equipment that processes….” are
unregulated within the Australia New Zealand Food Standards and in
fact are unregulated anywhere in the world."

US MARKET OPPORTUNITY:
Whether or not you are interested in exporting to the US at this time, it is
always a good idea to know what is happening in your product category over there.
US Market Trends and Products
What new products are being introduced? What brands are being
refreshed, and how are they being updated? How much shelf space
do the key players get? What are the standard prices in the various
retail outlets? How deep are the price cuts during promotions?
Product samples are valuable as well – both
for your technical people and your marketing team. And if the
target products are
too perishable to bring back to New Zealand, the packaging is
still useful. Ingredient and nutritional information speaks volumes
to your technical people. The product claims, label quality,
images used, package and serving size information are valuable
for your marketing team.
Exporting to the US
A market of this size and complexity requires good research
and a staged entry. I have been researching the US food market
for several clients lately. I have arranged warehousing, and
identified and screened food brokers and distributors, retailers
and catalogue companies. Here's what one of my clients, Kathy
Light of EasiYo Yogurt has to say:
" I Thank you
for all this good work. It is so exciting and you have done
such a thorough job that
it has given us the
confidence we need to enter such a market as the USA."
On Location Research for You
I will be spending 3 months in the US from
mid June through September. It wouldn’t cost much to
have me pick up samples and note prices and trends while I
am there. I could also be
on the lookout for innovative new product ideas that you could
introduce here in New Zealand. And if you are interested in exporting
to the US, I can do for you what I have done for EasiYo - research
the best way for your company to enter the US market, in a controlled
manner, and as cost effectively as possible.
If you’d like me to do some work on your behalf while
I’m in the US, please give me a call at (09) 444-5647. Kind regards,
Diane
